Alex Dev-log#3 - Play test #2
Play test #2 (Twine prototype)
Heuristics
- Players should be able to understand the narrative
- Players should be able to successfully make choices
- Players should be able to successfully complete the game
Methodology
We conducted our playtest in a classroom and asked four people to playtest our twine prototype. There was a brief summary given to players on how to play the game. Observations and reactions were noted.
Summary of results and data
The results of the playtest are as follows:
- Players were able to see the available choices and make them easily.
- Players were able to complete game successfully.
- Players were able to understand the game's narrative.
Iterative Development
Based the play test results, we asked the players for any suggestions that would help the overall gameplay. One suggestion that was given was primarily focused on the dialogue. A player mentioned that there was nothing being said about where to investigate based on the conversations with suspects. They felt like this was necessary to have in the story. Another suggestion that was given focused on grammatical errors. A player mentioned that in some instances, there were grammatical errors that distracted them in their gameplay. These suggestions that were given are going to be implemented in the next iteration of our game. They will be able to help the player better understand and progress into the story.
